00:30 AM to 11:30 PM IST

Indian Railways department has launched a new phone number for Enquiry, which is a completely free service and works for all over india. You just need to call ‘139′ from your BSNL landlines, MTNL landlines, Dolphin, Garuda, Idea, Spice Telecom and Vodaphone telecom operator enabled phones.

Railway Online Ticket Booking


Indian railways is one of the largest and busiest railway system in the world.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) provides an online booking facility through website portal "www.irctc.co.in". Customers can book tickets online with a credit card, debit card or a net banking account.

How to Book Railway Ticket Online

First step in booking a ticket online is to create a new user account in IRCTC website.

Just click on the signup link on login page, user will navigate to the new user signup page and fill your personal details to create a new account. User have to provide a valid E-Mail ID and mobile number in registration. The account may lead to deactivation if the user provided garbage or junk values for registration.


Booking your Ticket

Once account is created you can login to your account and book tickets. Select your travel date, source and destination station name or code and ticket type.

Ticket Type: i-Ticket and e-Ticket

Indian Railways offers two types of ticket through it’s online booking system. First one is i-Ticket. It is like a normal ticket which will be delivered at your home in 2-3 days time. For i-Tickets you have to book the ticket at least two days before your journey. i-Tickets are issued for Waiting List, Confirmed and RAC ticket status also.

To book an e-ticket user has required to enter any of the ID proof details like PAN Card, Voter’s ID Card, Passport, Ration Card, Central/State Govt. ID Card or Driving License. 


After ticket booking, take a printout of Electronic Reservation Slip and carry it during travel along with the ID proof.


Note:

1. For e-tickets not carried the Electronic Reservation slip then you will have to pay a fine of Rs 50.
2. e-tickets can 
only be cancelled through internet. Cancellation will be confirmed online and the money will be credited to the same back account.
